From Aug 15 to 20, the Binhai Fair of CMG Film Culture Carnival was held at the Binhai Cultural Center in Tianjin.
Leveraging the influence of mainstream media, the event created a high-quality platform that combined film culture with experience-driven consumption.
Capitalizing on the summer tourism season, Binhai New Area brought together government agencies, online platforms and local business districts to offer experiences combining culture, leisure and shopping, strengthening links between the film, tourism and retail sectors.
On the opening day, the Binhai Cultural Center business district received 63,000 visits, a year-on-year increase of 41 percent. From August 15 to 19, total footfall reached 272,000.
During the event, surrounding catering, accommodation, and cultural tourism spending rose 25.4 percent year-on-year. The market featured over 50 intangible cultural heritage (ICH) booths, showcasing skills from across the country. Visitors watched films, experienced ICH crafts, tasted local food, and purchased creative products.
In addition, intelligent robots and robotic dogs delivered lively performances, while XR viewing and high-precision motion-capture demonstrations attracted crowds, revealing behind-the-scenes film technology to the public.
The event also promoted local scenic spots. Organizers said that the event was more than just a market, bringing together film, intangible cultural heritage and tourism activities to boost the nighttime economy and expand cultural offerings for residents and visitors. Though the six-day carnival has ended, its cultural impact and spirit of craftsmanship continue to resonate within the city.
