Participants in the Tianjin 2026 Global Business Leaders Roundtable and international media representatives visited the world's first smart zero-carbon terminal at Tianjin Port on March 26, gaining a firsthand look at how the port area is boosting high-quality economic development.
At the terminal, automated quay cranes operated seamlessly, while AI-driven transport vehicles shuttled back and forth, with no human operators in sight. Visitors snapped plenty of photos and expressed keen interest in Tianjin Port's pioneering smart and green technology.
Chen Jun, legal advisor of First Eastern Investment Group, said, "Tianjin Port leads the way globally in both automation and intelligence. We are exploring partnership opportunities in the port sector, and the purpose of this visit is to experience and learn firsthand." He noted the potential for mutual learning between the ports of Hong Kong and Tianjin.
Hussain Dawood, chairman of Engro Corporation in Pakistan, praised Tianjin Port as a marvel of Chinese technological advancement, saying he was particularly impressed by the synergy between autonomous vehicles and intelligent control systems.
A journalist from South Korea wrote a report on the port's automation and AI applications, hoping to enhance understanding of China's technological progress and foster bilateral cooperation.
