The "hundred-bird dress" festival is celebrated by the Miao people every year on the 12nd day of the first month in the lunar calendar. On that day, people wear a Bainiaoyi, or “Hundred Bird Costume”, which is decorated in feathers and embroideries, to dance to the lusheng, a reed-pipe wind instrument.
